Fundamental
Moving Target – Passing and Receiving
Set Up: There are 8-10 players set up inside the grid, starting at the corners. Two balls are used during the drill.
Procedure: To begin the drill, Player A dribbles halfway across the grid and passes square to Player B, running out of the corner diagonally across from him. At the same time, Players C and D run the same pattern from the other two corners. After passing or receiving, the players run to the next corner. The direction of play changes after 2-3 minutes.
Teaching Topics:
1 Speed of play.
2 Passing technique.
3 Timing the runs.
Progressions:
1 Use two groups, moving in opposite directions.
Coaching Points:
1 Move the ball at game speed—dribble at full speed and strike game speed passes.
2 Look up and check for the target one last time before you strike the pass.
3 The receiver should start his run just as the passer makes his first touch.
